Carbonite Install

Getting Started

• Please read our backup policy [| https://help.igb.illinois.edu/Desktop_Backup_Policy]
• Email help@igb.illinois.edu and request access to our Carbonite Backup System
• Upon receiving confirmation that your account has been activated, you will receive an email which contains the links to download the Desktop Application, Actiation URL, and Activation Code.

Uninstalling

macOS

• Open the Finder
• Press Command-Shift-G. The Go to Folder dialog box appears.
• Paste this text into the dialog box: /Library/Application Support/CrashPlan/Uninstall.app
• Press return
• Double-click Uninstall
• Follow the prompts to complete the uninstall process
• After the uninstall process, restart the computer

Windows

• Go to Control Panel->Program and Features
• Uninstall Code42 Application

Troubleshooting

Restarting

• If your Crashplan app is automatically restarting regularly, it might be because you need to increase the amount of memory that Crashplan is allowed to use.
• Please follow the guide at https://support.code42.com/CrashPlan/6/Troubleshooting/Adjust_Code42_app_settings_for_memory_usage_with_large_backups on how to increase the memory usage.

Unable to download app from the CrashPlan server

• If you are unable to download the CrashPlan app from the server after login, you can find the download for your operating system at the following link under Installers for a single device
